While the current orthodoxy in identity security lauds the rise of the “Modern Identity Stack”—a federation of specialized platforms for posture management, authentication protection, and behavioral threat detection—this approach has deep structural shortcomings that can leave critical business assets exposed. Through a critical examination of prevailing vendor strategies, this whitepaper argues that true resilience is only achievable via a unified “Identity Convergence Stack”—one that bridges identity, security, governance, and business application layers (including custom, disconnected, and legacy environments). We articulate the strategic and technical rationale for this approach, using Sharelock’s architecture as a practical reference model, but outlining principles applicable to all organizations seeking robust, future-proof identity defense.
